Before becoming independent in 1992, Bosnia and Herzegovina, located on the Balkan Peninsula, was a former Yugoslav republic. This fascinating country has a long history of being ruled and conquered by other countries and cultures. The government is most appealing because of its East-meets-West surroundings, which have been influenced by Ottoman and Austro-Hungarian influences. 

Bosnia and Herzegovina have plenty of significant drawcards for all travellers, with an abundance of mediaeval ruins, unique towns and cities, stunning mountains, waterfalls, and rivers.
